Emergencies Vet in Johnson City

As pet owners, we all hope that our furry friends will never experience a medical emergency. However, accidents and illnesses can happen at any time, and it's important to know what to do in case of an emergency. We're sharing examples of what is considered a pet emergency, after-hours emergency hospital contacts, the poison control contact number, and CareCredit information.

Emergencies During Business Hours

If you experience a vet emergency during our office hours, please call us before your arrival to ensure we have a doctor available to treat your pet, and that our team has time to prepare for triage.

What is Considered a Pet Emergency?

A pet emergency is any situation that requires immediate medical attention for your pet. This can include accidents, injuries, sudden illness, or any other life-threatening situation. Some common examples of pet emergencies include:

  • Severe injuries
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Inability to walk or stand
  • Seizures
  • Ingestion of toxic substances
  • Severe bleeding
  • Unconsciousness
  • Severe vomiting or diarrhea
  • Difficulty giving birth
  • Difficulty urinating or defecating
  • Injuries from a car accident or fall

If you notice any of these symptoms or any other concerning behavior in your pet, it's important to seek emergency pet care immediately.

After-Hours Emergency Care

Our office is unable to provide 24/7 emergency services, but luckily our neighbors at The Airport Pet Emergency Clinic will be able to help. Please call them immediately at 423-279-0574. Our pets are too precious to risk waiting until tomorrow.

Once the emergency is handled, your pet will be able to transfer back to our care when they are deemed healthy enough for transport. Their follow-up care can also be handled in our office if we are your primary veterinarian.
